POONI IN THE COMMUNITY

Supporting Students

PG’s non-profit arm, Pooni Group Foundation, is proud to announce a brand-new scholarship. The Thunderbird Award for IBPOC students will offer up $10,000 annually for student athletes on any varsity team who are Indigenous or who identify as Black or as a Person of Colour, with preference given to student athletes who identify as South Asian.

Pooni Group is thrilled to partner with UBC athletics on this initiative. Among its many accomplishments, the province’s biggest university boasts 26 varsity teams representing men’s and women’s sports; is home to more than 225 Olympians; and has had 100+ athletes drafted into professional leagues. UBC Athletics strives to create a welcoming and empowering space where IBPOC individuals can thrive, achieve their full potential, and contribute meaningfully to the university community and beyond.
